The main aspects of his work are presented by more than fifty essays, most of which are published in Russia for the first time. In the centre of attention there is a concept of “the World Rebellious-War”. In the 1860s the author apocalyptically defined the main threat and the means of conducting an armed struggle at the turn of the twenty-first century such as guerilla warfare, resistance movement and global terrorism. The classic’s thoughts on military art and patriotism of the Russian army are instructive and relevant to our times. The book covers E.E. Saraskina L.I. Dostoevskii v sozvuchiiakh i pritiazheniaikh: (ot Pushkina do Solzhenitsyna).
[Saraskina L.I. Dostoevsky in harmonies and gravities: (from Pushkin to Solzhenitsyn)]
2006. 608 p. ISBN 5-85887-236-0

The new book by L.I. Saraskina is devoted to the diverse relationships between F.M. Dostoevsky and the Russian writers and thinkers of the XIX and the XX centuries. The concepts “Russia and Europe”, “Russian idea”, “Russian nihilism” are shown in their historical development on the basis of works by Pushkin, Chaadaev, Khomiakov, Rozanov, Vl. Soloviov, Berdiaev and others. The author elicits new literary sources for the novel “Demons” and the short story “Bobok”, and suggests a different interpretation of the novel “The Gambler” (in its relation to the personal experience of the writer) and the novel “The Brothers Karamazov” (“the battle-field”) . Russian conservatism (V.P. Meshcherskii, K.P. Pobedonostsev) and Russian radicalism (N.F. Fedorov) are examined in the context of political thinking “after Dostoevsky”. Dostoevsky’s influence on the literature of the XX century is traced — in its striving for “overcoming” the classical heritage and its desire to continue the tradition (V. Nabokov, I. Ilf and E. Petrov, S. Fudel, the writers of Russia abroad). The concluding section analyzes the significance of the artistic and the publicistic work of Dostoevsky in the development of A.I. Solzhenitsyn as a writer. This book is interesting not only for experts, but also for the wide audience — for everybody, who wants to fill in the lacunas in the official history, and to understand the meaning and the content of the events in the contemporary complex and controversial times more deeply.
